Swinburne Cheerleading and Dance offer competitive cheer and dance teams for all abilities! Our club aims to provide an opportunity for members to meet new people, work as a team, learn and develop skills and make the most of their university experience
What is Competitive Cheerleading?
Cheerleading is a fast-paced, dynamic sport that encompasses stunts, tumbling, tosses, dance, gymnastics and acrobatic techniques, all combined into a two-and-a-half-minute routine. As a university team, Swinburne competes in the scholastic division, with a section of chanting and crowd involvement, competing nationally against other universities.
This year we are offering the below teams:
Level 1 All Girl - Wildbacks
Level 1/2 Coed - Swooshbacks
Level 3/4 Coed - Razorbacks
We also offer the opportunity for athletes to compete in stunt groups and partner groups.
What is Competitive Dance?
Competitive Dance is a competitive sport that involves dancers performing a 2-minute and 15-second routine in the various dance styles our clubs offer. These routines incorporate dance technique, synchronization and uniformity, staging and visuals, communication and crowd appeal.
Swinburne Cheer and Dance has four dance teams and would love for you to be a part of them.
Our teams are:
Hip Hop - Obsidian
Lyrical - Limerence
Jazz - Infrared
Pom - Firestorm
We also offer the opportunity for athletes to compete in dance duos.
