LEAD Talk: NAIDOC and Reconciliation with Diana David
Attend this talk on Tuesday the 7th of July - in the heart of NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Indigenous Day of Celebration week) to hear from Diana David, CEO of Reconciliation Victoria. Reconciliation Victoria is an organisation that facilitates reconciliation activities across the state. We want to enable organisations and groups undertaking reconciliation activities in Victoria to develop a shared understanding of meaningful reconciliation, and to collaborate and share resources to achieve greater outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Diana is a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman from the Southern Kaanju Nation Central Cape York Peninsula and Kulkagau Ya Iama (Yam Is) Western Torres Strait Islands. Diana has been the CEO of Reconciliation Victoria since 2018; the first Indigenous person to hold the role.
Diana has a broad range of academic and professional credentials, including working with the Cape York Institute for Policy and Leadership and a participant of the Cape York Leadership Academy. She also has extensive Government sector experience, working in the past with both Aboriginal Victoria and the Victorian Treaty Advancement Commission.
Join us to hear about:
- The work of Reconciliation Victoria, and why reconciliation is vital
- Diana's previous experience with the Victorian Treaty Advancement Commission and how a treaty could lead to a better Victoria
- Working as a community leader: engaging and developing community
- The importance of persistent leadership
As always there will be an "Ask Me Anything" segment where students can ask any questions they want and, as always, questions are welcomed before, during and after the conversation. Come along to learn more about how being active in your career can lead to making a difference.
When: 7th of July, 3:00-4:00PM
