Professionals and mentors often expect students to be proactive and communicate clearly. But how can we do this? What are the boundaries and how do we know when it’s okay to ask a question? How do we connect with people you haven’t met before through email?

Professionals and mentors often expect students to be proactive and communicate clearly. But how can we do this? What are the boundaries and how do we know when it’s okay to ask a question? How do we connect with people you haven’t met before through email?

In this workshop, we’ll unravel some of the complexities of communication focusing on being proactive. Instead of waiting for the right time, we’ll learn to make the best time for a conversation, an email or a networking session. We’ll examine how to be active without being pushy.

Students will leave with:
1. Knowledge of what others’ expect of them and how this is an advantage
2. A solid networking strategy built on being proactive
3. Skills in how to email and talk to a variety of professionals and mentors in the early stages of a new job

Time: 3.30-5.30
