The Swinburne Liberal Society (SLS) is Swinburne University of Technology’s premier political club promoting Liberalism and conservatism across our campus for the advancement of our nation through discussion, debate, and the creation of long lasting friendships. We believe in three core ideas: Our Nation – It’s institutions, it’s laws, and it’s society. The Individual – To be independent, to be responsible, to achieve. Liberalism – In it’s values of independent and free thought, association, and choice. These values were core to the founding of the Liberal Party and former Prime Minister Robert Menzies and his success in his eighteen years of leadership of Australia. We want to foster a positive and sociable environment, our members to engage in free and civil debates, learn different perspectives, and make their journey through university just that little bit more special.
