The Swinburne Women in STEM Club (WISTEM) aims to support students studying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with an emphasis on Women and Gender-Diverse people.
WISTEM attracts, empowers, and celebrates these students whilst building a community which is supportive, inclusive, and inspiring.
We do this by celebrating diversity, consistent engagement, collaboration with other clubs, organisations and professionals in STEM, and advertisement of opportunities. We are a very active community and hold numerous events each semester. The Women in STEM club is a great way to realise your potential, build a network of other students, and prepare yourself for a career.
Some of the things we do are
- Social events: trivia, member networking, feminist discussions, games nights
- Professional events: STEM webinars, professional networking, industry webinars, social impact, Women in leadership
- Programs: Women in STEM mentor program, Women can STEM
- Active social media: student opportunities, inspiring articles, competitions
